Catena wines are the result of special blends from different vineyards of the Catena family, made by Laura Catena, fourth generation winemaker, and Alejandro Vigil, Chief Enologist of Catena Zapata. While Catena wines can be consumed at the time of release, they have proven to have a wonderful cellaring potential of ten to twenty years. After several decades of study and research of Mendoza’s different high altitude microclimates, the Catena family has identified the best areas for planting the family’s vineyards. This wine, a blend of these historic vineyards, is a Cabernet Sauvignon of unique character, excellent typicity, balance and concentration. Vitification: Fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 14 days and post-fermentation maceration for 20 to 23 days. Indigenous yeasts. Ageing: 12 months in oak. Oak selection based on vineyard and vintage characteristics. First, second and third use barrels. Origin: Mendoza, Argentina Varieties: 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot.
