In the 1950s, Don Domingo Catena began using Malbec from vineyards in La Consulta. The high light intensity and cool nights of this region produce a wine that Domingo appreciated for its deep violet colour, intense black fruit aroma and concentrated, silky tannins.
Pre-fermentative cold maceration for 5 days at 10ºC. Fermentation for 16 days. Post-fermentation maceration for 10 days. 12 months in barrel (35% new oak). Barrel selection varies according to vineyard and vintage. French oak.
Terroir: Clayey soil of alluvial origin, with large oval stones at depth. (80% sand, 10% clay, 10% silt). Origin: La Consulta vineyard (1095m), Uco Valley, Argentina.
